Exodus 8-10

In this Wednesday night study of Exodus 8-10, Pastor Rob Salvato works through plagues 2-9 around four transformational truths God reveals about himself — his Transcendence, Sovereignty, Patience, and Grace — showing how each plague was a direct attack on a specific Egyptian deity: the frog goddess Heqet, the sky goddess Nut cracked open by hail, the crop gods Isis and Seth overrun by locusts, and finally Ra the supreme sun god plunged into three days of darkness so thick the Egyptians couldn't breathe. Threading through all of it is Pharaoh's progressive hardening — moving from kabad (dull and indifferent when the pressure lifts) to hazaq (fortified and digging in) — alongside a repeated pattern of hollow confession without repentance, illustrated by Pharaoh's telling request after the locusts: "forgive me this once," which Pastor Rob uses to distinguish godly sorrow (a change of mind that results in a change of direction) from worldly sorrow that apologizes but never turns. The message closes by naming Satan's three standing compromises — you can serve God but leave your family behind, don't try to influence your kids, and keep your resources out of it — with Moses' answer to all three being "not a hoof shall be left behind," and a final application: knowing this God should increase our boldness, deepen our worship, and strengthen our obedience.
